Gauteng SPIN - TPI (Test Process Improvement) Next
TPI (Test Process Improvement) Next is a Business Driven Test Process Improvement model as described by Sogeti [2009]. The model contains an assessment component that measures the level of maturity of the testing processes, a process improvement component and the "clusters" component that determines the order of process improvement. The model is essentially driven by business needs, but lends itself very easily to CMMi by using the CMMi level that is desired to drive the order of improvement.

The diagram above, is broken down into the following components:
Checkpoints - set questions used to assess the level of maturity of a specific test process.
Key Areas - grouping of checkpoints that focus on specific areas of the test process. Clusters - the order of improvement. It is also a grouping of checkpoints based upon a specific business driver.
Improvement Suggestion - a suggestion on how to improve test processes in order to achieve a Maturity level.
Enablers - these clarify how, by the close co-operation of testing processes and other activities in the SDLC, can be beneficial.
The presentation gave an overview of the TPI Next model and how it can be used to improve testing processes for a specific CMMi level.
