Cloud Computing: a new paradigm for software development
The existing software industry has developed from a history in which software application were developed to run on a specific computer that users of the application were able to access. With the rapid growth of the Internet this paradigm has changed. We now have situations where applications are delivered as services via the Internet (Software as a Service) or applications are developed to run on a "virtual computer" (Cloud Computing) that runs somewhere on the Internet. This dramatic change in paradigm is relatively recent and throws up a range of challenges for the existing software industry.
