SEI Partner

Software Engineering Institute
At Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh
The Joburg Centre for Software Engineering (JCSE) became a partner of the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute (SEI) in January 2006.

The SEI is a U.S. Department of Defence federally funded research and development centre at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. The SEI helps organisations improve their software engineering capabilities and develop or acquire the right software, defect free, within budget and on time.

The SEI has a number of programmes including its Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) programme, which assists companies from a host of sectors to mature their processes in order to develop high quality software and systems.

It also hosts the US-CERT (Cyber Emergency Response Team) together with the US Department of Homeland Security, which is a coordination point for prevention, protection, and response to cyber attacks across the Internet.

As an official partner of the SEI, all JCSE CMMI instructors and appraisers are accredited with the SEI and all CMMI ratings performed locally are registered with the SEI.

The SEI is also partnering with the JCSE to bring more of its courses out to South Africa, which the JCSE will run on its behalf.
